Sometimes the best way to identify opportunities for simplifying and improving your daily life is to get a little perspective—along with a healthy dose of natural beauty, fresh air, and a whole lot of pampering. These are some of my all-time favorite vacation destinations because they provide the perfect backdrop for restoring the body, mind, and spirit and returning home with fresh energy.

  1. New York City, NY

My “home away from home,” New York City is my go-to getaway. It’s one of those cities that stays in your veins. For me, I need to make my way up to the Big Apple a few times a year. The city oozes electric energy and you feel it the moment you step off the airplane. I was born in Queens, but Manhattan is my spot – with all its great areas, from midtown to downtown, SoHo to NoHo, Tribeca to Gramercy –ooh, you name it! I love it all. The city is one of the few that lives and breathes on its own. It’s wealth of activities from Broadway and dining out to dancing, strolling through Central Park or just shopping – NYC can help you to feel excited, inspired, motivated, grateful, exhilarated, and completely at peace all at once. It’s the perfect place to go for a concentrated dose of life, love and adventure.

Affordable Goodness: If you want to experience the city but not break the bank, try the Mela Hotel – it’s marvelous location, excellent service and killer price-point make it a personal favorite.

Luxury Retreat: When looking for the bright light, big city kind of hotel stay, we couldn’t recommend the Mandarin Oriental enough. It’s right in Columbus Circle and it boasts perhaps the best views from the hotel bar!

  1. Napa Valley, CA

This is my 2nd “home away from home” – is it possible to really have a limit on these? Viticulture and fine cuisine are truly art forms to be cherished and appreciated in life and this is the perfect place to find it. I make it a point to stay for a minimum of 4-5 days since I’m always traveling from the East Coast, but as soon as I arrive in Napa I feel a strong connection with nature as I spend the days surrounded by great wine, beautiful weather and easy downtown roads. No matter how many times I return, I’m always guaranteed to discover new gems of distinctive vineyards, each with spectacular views and outrageously delicious dining spots. It’s this kind of vibe that truly replenishes the soul.

  1. Blackberry Farm, Great Smoky Mountains, Tennessee

For some people, there’s nothing more restorative than fresh mountain air. If you’re a woods lovers, this idyllic estate in the Great Smoky Mountains is the perfect escape. The retreat’s approach to wellness is rooted in balance, offering farm-fresh food, rustic-inspired spa treatments, and fitness classes along with “Forest Bathing” excursions in the property’s Deep Healing Woods.

  1. Rayavadee, Krabi, Thailand

The trip is long, but it’s worth it. Thailand radiates bliss from every vantage point. Tucked among tropical gardens and coconut groves, Rayavadee offers views of towering cliffs, lush jungles, and the sparkling Andaman Sea. Restore your mind and body with Thai spa treatments, spend the day scuba-diving or rock climbing, or even ride atop an elephant—whatever your pleasure, you’ll find it here.

  1. Anse Chastanet Resort, Soufriere, St. Lucia

St. Lucia has an almost magical allure that draws weary travelers to its lush rain forests and white-sand beaches—all set against the backdrop of the two towering Piton mountains. This quiet yet colorful 49-room resort offers morning and sunset yoga, fresh cuisine featuring homegrown organic produce, and a beachfront spa. Most importantly, there are no TVs, telephones, Wi-Fi, or AC—it’s mandatory unplugging and it’ll do wonders for your psyche.

  1. Cameron House on Loch Lomond, Alexandria, Scotland

If a majestic castle sounds like your dream destination, book a stay at this upscale retreat in the Scottish Highlands. The timeless hotel, perched on the banks of the misty Loch Lomond, exudes richness at every corner—from the plush bedding to the hearty cuisine and smooth single malts. Find inner focus at the spa or through more active pursuits like archery, mountain biking, canoe trips, and lawn games out in the fresh mountain air.

Affordable Goodness: The Andaz Hotel is part of the Hyatt Family, and is located right in the heart of downtown Napa. With it’s natural elements-inspired design, the hotel is quick to help you wind-down and gear-up for a few days of exceptional wine tasting.

Luxury Retreat: With its intimate hillside setting, the Auberge de Soleil is pretty much the best of the best when it comes to Napa escapes. With breathtaking views and award-winning dining – not to mention the outrageously enticing luxury spa – you truly cannot go wrong with a stay at the Auberge. Fun fact! I married the man of my dreams here in 2013!

  1. Bimini, Bahamas

Ocean, sun and boating is definitely the perfect combination to truly soak in and embody our mantra here at Skinny Strong of “Life First.” This is a great spot only 2 hours from Miami’s shores when traveling by boat. With the most beautiful waters I’ve ever seen, Bimini provides the perfect setting to regroup and leave your daily stresses behind. When you combine the shining sun, ice-cold bubbly, chilled shrimp and an open heart – you can’t help but feel like the world is your oyster after just two short days!

Affordable Goodness: Stay the night at the Bimini Bay Resort & Spa. With rooms looking out to those undeniably stunning blue waters, you are chronically surrounded by bliss.

Luxury Retreat: Why stay on land if you could drift off to sleep at sea? Take your boat or yacht and escape to your own private retreat. Sometimes a little seclusion can do a world of good. And hey, if you got it, flaunt it –right?

  1. Punta Cana, Dominican Republic

Beach, sun, golf, and all far enough to feel it’s a world away – at just a 2 hour flight from Miami, Punta Cana is practically a stone’s throw away! Planning a short vacation, whether as a group trip with friends or a couple’s retreat, I always have the absolute best time with unforgettable experiences when in the DR. There’s something just so naturally easy and relaxing about the island that is contagious – in the best possible way.

Affordable Goodness: Punta Cana is chock-full of great private units or homes that you can rent. These are great, affordable ways to really immerse yourself in your own private excursion. Plus! You are able to cook-in if you want, and with family and friends – there’s nothing better than everyone gathering around the kitchen laughing and cooking together.

Luxury Retreat: If you’re looking for that high-end getaway, we truly love Tortuga Bay Hotel. Boasting immaculate villas designed by the one-and-only Oscar De La Renta – you know you’re stepping into a different world.
